The route begins at the (new) Neustadt a.d.Wald train station and leads counterclockwise to some scenic highlights, primarily the Waldnaab valley northeast of Windischeschenbach.

Despite starting in Neustadt a.d.Waldnaab, I have named the route "Floßer Panoramarunde" in honor of my friend and colleague B.K. from Floß, who rode this route with me on July 10, 2013.

The route leads to some of the scenic highlights of the northern district of Neustadt a.d.Waldnaab and the southern district of Tirschenreuth. It is accessible by both mountain bike and trekking/touring bike.

The scenic highlights mainly include the valleys of the Frombach and the Waldnaab located northeast of Windischeschenbach. The valley of the Schweinenaab between Schweinmühle and Oberbaumühle is also very idyllically situated.

Finally, the route also passes through the peaceful Sauerbach valley before it meets the federal road 22 west of Altenstadt an der Waldnaab.

Those who enjoy cycling in the mountains will enjoy the district road NEW 25, which climbs 121 meters in elevation over 2.5 km from the center of Windischeschenbach to the beginning of Püllersreuth. Along the way, there are repeated beautiful views of Windischeschenbach.

Windischeschenbach is known as the "capital of Zoigl beer". For more information, see: http://www.windischeschenbach.de/.

    Author’s recommendation

On weekends, the Bockl cycle path, the Waldnaab valley, and the Sauerbach valley are popular excursion destinations. If you want to really enjoy the route, you should ride on a weekday.

    Roadbook

From Neustadt a.d.Waldnaab train station, the route initially follows the Bockl cycle path, which it leaves at Floß. Between Floß and Lindenhof east of Windischeschenbach, the route only runs on short sections along marked cycle paths.

After passing under the high-voltage power lines north of Lindenhof, the route reaches three supra-regional cycle paths ("In the footsteps of the Leuchtenbergers", Waldnaab valley cycle path" and "Zoigl cycle path"), which it follows to the Blockhütte. From Blockhütte via Tannenlohe, Ödwalpersreuth and Bernstein, the route runs along local cycle paths.

From the end of Bernstein to the center of Windischeschenbach, the Fichtelnaab cycle path is used, and up to the center of Püllersreuth, the Waldnaab valley tour. The section Püllersreuth - Lenkermühle - Hahnenmühle is not marked. From Hahnenmühle to the end of the route, the local cycle path NEW 2 is followed.
