In the heart of Friesland lies the vast low moor De Alde Feanen. On the cycling route around the water-rich area, you will get to know the ancient moors. You can experience the gently swaying peat moor soil of the national park up close when you dismount.
Can't continue cycling? Then a ferry is waiting to carry you across. Carry some coins for the ferry captains. You should also bring binoculars. The area is a bird paradise. Here, permanent residents and travelers alike find a resting or breeding place. With some luck, you will hear the rattling song of a reed warbler. Does a sea eagle fly over you or do you spot an otter? Then you are truly lucky.
