The tour takes you through the birth villages of some of the most famous Slovenians. Magnificent views, picturesque villages and medieval Radovljica are expecting you.
While cycling you will admire the picturesque alpine landscape, interesting and beautiful alpine villages. The tour starts in Bled and continues over the Sava Dolinka River towards the villages below Stol, where you can admire the Karavanke mountain range and the Julian Alps. This tour is an excellent choice if you want to learn more about some of the most distinguished Slovenian artists, poets and writers, because quite a few were born in the villages where you will cycle. You will most certainly remember visiting Begunje, where Slavko and Vilko Avsenik, the world renowned national folk music composers and performers lived. You can also visit Elan ski museum in Begunje. Before returning to Bled you can make a stop in Radovljica, since its picturesque old city centre offers a great venue to stop for a cup of coffee or enjoy in many desserts offered in local cafés.
Author’s recommendation
If you wish to shorten your tour, we advise you to turn right towards Hraše in Rodine and continue along the suggested route from Lesce back to Bled.

BLED - BREG - ŽIROVNICA - BREZNICA - SMOKUČ - RODINE - BEGUNJE - ZAPUŽE - RADOVLJICA - LESCE - BLED
The tour starts in front of the Triglavska roža Bled Info Centre and continues along the road on the right side of Mercator shop. At the end of the street, turn left and cross Seliška cesta, where you reach the cycling route. Turn right and ride along the cycling route to the crossroad (on the right). Turn right (cross Seliška cesta) and continue along the main road towards Zasip.
Before the village, turn right towards Piškoveec. After a short descend you reach the Sava Dolinka River, cross it and drive along the unpaved road. Start a short climb and follow the main road until you reach the village of Breg (asphalt road) and continue through the village. Cycle on the main road, cross the motorway and after a mild ascent reach the crossroad before Žirovnica and continue towards the first crossroad, turn right across the railway track.
Cycle along the main road through the village and keep on the road towards Begunje. When you come to Begunje, turn right and continue past Elan factory (on the left side). When you come to a crossroad, turn left in the direction of Zapuže and Radovljica. In Zapuže and before the bridge, turn right and continue along the road towards Nova vas and Radovljica. Ride along the main road through Nova vas towards Radovljica.
When you come to a motorway underpass and a crossroad with traffic lights, continue straight on and in the crossroad at the elementary school turn left to Šercerjeva cesta, continue to the crossroad with Ljubljanska cesta, turn right and go straight on. Drive past Mercator shop (on the right) and after a few hundred metres, turn left in Gubčeva ulica street, descend to the entry of the old city centre. This is followed by a short ride uphill, turn left and go past Lectar Inn to Linhartov trg square.
Continue in the main direction of the arrival to the old city centre and continue on the left side, i. e. along Gorenjska cesta road. Continue from Gorenjska cesta along the cycling route and on Kranjska cesta road to the crossroad with traffic lights and go straight on. When you arrive to the crossroad, take the second exit and continue along the cycling route through Lesce, cross the railway track and go to crossroad with traffic lights, where you can take the cycling route past the hippodrome and turning for Šobec Campsite (on the left) until you reach the bridge over the Sava Dolinka River. Continue ascending along the cycling route to the Triglavska roža Info Centre in Bled.
