Tour Description
The starting and ending point of this tour is in the courtyard of the historic Westerburg moated castle.
Since this is a loop route, you can also start and end the tour at any other point along the described route.
From the starting point, your route first takes you into the Dedeleber Feldmark and then along the railroad bike path across the Großer Graben into Lower Saxony.
The route continues eastward through the “Großes Bruch.” From here, you can already see your destination: the Söllingen Wind Farm. The 17 wind turbines, with a hub height of 162 meters and a rotor diameter of 163 meters, stand out impressively on the horizon.
Finally, on the southern outskirts of Söllingen, the Wind Energy Experience Center awaits you, where you can discover everything worth knowing about wind energy in a vivid and engaging way. (Guided tours are also available here upon request.)

After your visit, the route takes you through Söllingen and on to Jerxheim, where a short detour to the Heesehof—with its café and sheep farm—is well worth your time. (Please note the opening hours.)
The return trip begins with a brisk descent into the Große Bruch, and the route continues along the railroad bike path to Dedeleben.
In the center of town, you’ll find the local history museum and an information board about the former Berlin–Koblenz optical telegraph line.
On the southern edge of town, you’ll reach the Dedeleben outdoor pool, which invites you to cool off on hot summer days before you return to the tour’s starting point, Westerburg Water Castle.
