The Elbe-Land route is a circular path that stretches through the wide countryside of the Bleckede and Scharnebeck Elbe marshes. Marshland landscapes have characterized the region between the Elbe and the Elbe side canal for centuries. These and also the side arms of the Elbe, which you pass on your route, provide a habitat for numerous animal and plant species. The family-friendly route between the Elbe and the Elbe side canal is completely flat and impresses with varied views while cycling. The mix of natural and cultural landscapes and charming villages you pass through on the route delights cycling enthusiasts. The Elbtalaue Biosphere at Elbe Castle Bleckede also offers a unique and exciting experience program on the route. Here you will find animal encounters, entertainment, and information “in the middle of Elbe life,” while the Scharnebeck ship lift fascinates you as an architectural masterpiece.
Author’s recommendation
On the way lies the Scharnebeck ship lift, which, together with the adjacent museum, is a popular excursion destination.

Roadbook
You start the Elbe-Land route from the Elbe Castle in Bleckede initially heading towards the town center, where you turn right onto Lüneburger Straße. You follow this road to Neetze. After the village, you turn right and follow the path through Boltersen, Rullstorf, and Scharnebeck to the ship lift at the Elbe side canal. Here you cross the canal and follow it to the right to the small village of Fischhausen. Here you first cross the Neetze, then continue over the canal bridge back to the other side and on to Echem, which you pass through. Through the golf course Schloss Lüdersburg, you reach Lüdersburg and Jürgenstorf. Here you turn right and follow the path over Rosenthal and Vogelsang until just before Karze. There you turn left and cross the biosphere reserve until you reach Brackede. Along the right side of the Elbe, the Elbe side arm Radegaster Haken, and the Old Elbe, you now return to Bleckede until you reach your starting point, the Elbe Castle.
