This short section of my Elbe bike route only shows the journey from Vrchlabi station to my booked accommodation in Hostinne. Since the official cycle path does not start at the source or in Spindlermühle but only in Vrchlabi, I consider it useful to briefly describe this section as well.

As already mentioned above, a trip to Spindlermühle and a visit to Medvedin with the Elbe source is almost a must-do. I will definitely not have visited the well-kept village of Spindlermühle for the last time...

Cycle path no. 2, which marks the Elbe cycle route, is quite well signposted. But as with almost every cycle path, you still have to keep your eyes open to avoid missing a yellow signboard here and there. In the Czech Republic, it is generally advisable to always carry your ID card and health insurance card, as heavy fines may be imposed during checks. Child trailers for small children are - for whatever reason - prohibited in the Czech Republic, but normally a blind eye is turned. Helmets are generally mandatory for children under 15 years old. Payment in € is possible almost everywhere, but in smaller shops or restaurants it can happen that change is given in Czech crowns, so it is never wrong to ask beforehand. It is also advisable to exchange some euros per person; although they are usually hardly needed, you can spend them at the end of the tour on tickets, a meal, or supermarket, etc. 10 € per person / day is appropriate.Roadbook
With the station building behind me, I ride straight ahead, follow this street for about 1 km. The first small yellow sign, marked with "2", appears and points to the right; in the background a Škoda branch can be seen. This no. 2 marks the Elbe cycle path, which I now follow for a few kilometers to "check in" at my booked accommodation in Hostinne for the next two nights. Tomorrow I will not start my tour yet, as this day is reserved for a hike to the source of the Elbe on Medvedin. I have also published this hike under the title "Hike to the Elbe source." Its length is just over 25 km and is highly recommended, but see for yourself... The day after tomorrow my actual bike trip begins in this absolutely worth seeing area.
