The Eckbach and the Eisbach are two western tributaries of the Rhine, measuring 39 and 38 km respectively. Both streams originate close to each other in the northern Palatinate Forest between Ramsen and Carlsberg and flow into the Rhine near Worms.
The circular route "Eckbach-Eisbach Round" leads from Grünstadt on the "Deutsche Weinstraße" cycle path to Kirchheim an der Weinstraße into the Eckbach valley and from there on the romantic Eckbach Mill Hiking Trail, also designated as a cycle path, to Dirmstein. From Dirmstein, it continues on almost continuously asphalted field paths above the Eckbach and Eisbach via Groß- and Kleinniedesheim to Worms-Horchheim in the Eisbach valley. Through the Eisbach valley, the route then mostly follows the Barbarossa Cycle Path to Assenheim and from Assenheim on the "Deutsche Weinstraße" cycle path back to the starting point in Grünstadt.

Route description:
The starting point of the route is at the train station in Grünstadt. From the station, first follow the signs for the "Deutsche Weinstraße" cycle path towards Bad Dürkheim/Centrum. The signs lead you via Poststraße into the center of Grünstadt. Passing Luitpoldplatz, you cycle along the streets "Östlicher Graben," "Vorstadt," and "Kreuzweg," following the cycle path signs out of Grünstadt towards Kirchheim. 1.7 km after passing under the motorway, you will reach the well-signposted Eckbach Mill Hiking Trail below the bridge of the bypass road.
On this asphalt hiking trail, continue via Kirchheim and Bissersheim to Großkarlbach. The asphalt section of the trail ends at Laumersheimer Straße. Here, follow the cycle path signs to Laumersheim. Along the L 455, cycle to Laumersheim and turn right into Hauptstraße in the village. At the church in the center of Laumersheim, you rejoin the Eckbach Mill Hiking Trail, which takes you over Burgstraße and along the Eckbach to Dirmstein, where the marked hiking trail ends.
Continue cycling via Leininger Straße and the street "Affenstein" into the historic town center. Via Marktstraße and "Obertor" street, you reach Obersülzer Straße. Here you turn right and cycle on the cycle and footpath alongside the street to the junction with Heppenheimer Weg, where you turn left. After 150 m, turn right (Bahnhügelweg) out of Dirmstein towards Heuchelheim. Shortly before Heuchelheim, keep left and after the second intersection (at the end of the asphalted section), turn right. The path crosses the motorway and leads to Großniedersheim.
At the water tower in Großniedersheim, cross Heppenheimer Straße and cycle on the opposite field path to Kleinniedersheim. After the castle pavilion in Kleinniedersheim, turn left onto the street “Am Zimmerplatz.” Across the field, head towards Worms-Horchheim. After crossing Wiesoppenheimer Straße, continue straight ahead to the former station of Horchheim, where you meet the Barbarossa Cycle Path. Follow it turning left via Heppenheim to Offstein.
At the junction of Bahnhofstraße and Wormserstraße in the center of Offstein, leave the Barbarossa Cycle Path and turn left into Gerbereistraße. It leads along the Eisbach to L 395. On the roadside cycle path of this road, cycle to Obrigheim and from there via Mühlheim and Albsheim to Asselheim.
At the roundabout on the Weinstraße in Asselheim, you meet the "Deutsche Weinstraße" cycle path again, which takes you back to the starting point in Grünstadt.
