The highlight of the Diamond route is Brücken, a municipality in the Kusel district that was the economic center of the Palatine diamond-cutting trade before World War II. In 1888, Isidor Triefus founded the first Palatine diamond-cutting workshop near Brücken. Today, the profession of diamond cutter has "died out" in the surroundings of Brücken. However, the municipality of Brücken keeps the memory of this old craft alive in a museum documenting the more than 100-year history of the diamond-cutting industry in Brücken and the surrounding villages.

The 27 km long Diamond route leads out of the Glan valley onto the heights of the Palatinate hill country. From the 352 m high Rottersberg you have a fantastic view of the North Palatine hill country and the West Palatine moor lowlands, extending to the Palatinate Forest. Then you descend via Steinbach to Brücken, where you can visit the Diamond Cutter Museum in the center of Brücken. From Brücken, you then ride through the Ohmbach valley to the Ohmbachsee. For the return journey to the starting point, the Glan-Blies cycle path is recommended from the Ohmbachsee, running without inclines from Sand through the Glan valley to Glan-Münchweiler.

The described route partly follows the well-signposted Diamanten-Höhentour, a 17 km long challenging mountain bike route in the Ohmbachsee-Glantal holiday region. It follows three ascents from Glan-Münchweiler to the Ohmbachsee and offers an alternative to the route described by me.

    Route description:

The circular route starts in Glan-Münchweiler at the train station. Opposite the fire station at the southern end of Bahnhofstraße begins the signposted MBT-Diamantenhöhentour, which you initially follow up to the ridge above Glan-Münchweiler. This leads you through Schulstraße and Bergstraße on a paved path up to the Rottersberg. Once at the top, stay on the paved ridge path and soon after the forest hut leave the MBT route. You continue straight ahead and after 400 m rejoin the signposted MBT route. Continuing straight ahead, the marked route leads past the Naturfreundhaus to district road K 8, which you cross.

Here you leave the MTB route again and continue straight ahead on the paved path. After 400 m turn right and in the valley meet the B 423. After 50 m along the federal road towards Steinbach (straight ahead), turn left onto a paved farm road. Slightly uphill, after 200 m turn right onto a small hill above Brücken and Ohmbach. At the top, turn left towards Brücken. In the center of Brücken there is the opportunity to visit the Diamond Cutter Museum (Hauptstraße 47). From the center of Brücken (roundabout), follow the bike path signs "Ohmbachsee" via Dellstraße on a paved bike path through the Ohmbach valley to the Ohmbachsee. You circle the Ohmbachsee on the south side following the bike path signs and turn right at the campsite towards the "Glan-Blies cycle path," which you meet at the entrance to Sand. On it, you continue via Elschbach back to the starting point of the route.
