Details about the route:
The Délegyháza lakes have been a popular resort area since the 1980s. Due to their proximity to the capital, their clear waters, and quiet surroundings, they quickly became popular. The lake system consists of 8 lakes, marked with Roman numerals. The 300 hectares of water surface was formed during local gravel mining and is still expanding today. The lakes have different functions; most of them operate as fishing lakes, where delicious fish like carp, zander, and pike are abundant. At the Villantó fishing lake, the experience is even more special because fishing is allowed day and night.
The largest beach is at Lake IV, on Nomád shore; moreover, the nearby Tavirózsa Camping and beach area includes a dog beach where you can swim with your pets. Opposite the beach, there are uninhabited islands accessible by boat or even by swimming. The campsites around Lake IV offer pet-friendly accommodations, including not only tent sites but also rental cabins, and operate buffets as well.
At Lake V, you can find the internationally recognized Naturista Oázis camping. A short detour leads to the Palms Beach Jet-Ski lake, where, besides jet skiing, you can try special activities like flyboarding or hoverboarding.
During the lake circuit, you pass several hospitality venues; however, unlike many other lakes, the Délegyháza lakes are not completely built up, leaving several free shoreline areas where you can relax while admiring the emerald-green water.
Opposite the railway station, at the pavilion row, you can find the locally popular Robi confectionery. Not far from here, along the promenade next to the post office building, stands the Whispering Giant. Its creator, Hungarian-born American sculptor Peter Wolf Toth, has been interested in North American Indians since childhood. His large wooden statues (Whispering Giants) mostly depict Indian heads. The oak figure made for Délegyháza in 2008 is also a type of Whispering Giant, depicting not an Indian but King Saint Stephen.
