... always follow the cucumber! Because the cycling cucumber marks the route straight through the Spreewald. The route passes picturesque waterways and traditional cucumber and vegetable fields, giving the path its name. A touch of history is experienced in the museums of the Spreewald villages – for example, the cucumber museum in Lübbenau. A special highlight is visiting a cucumber pickling facility (by appointment) with a “cucumber tasting”.

In Cottbus, it's worth taking a detour to Branitz Castle with its beautiful park and the Fürst-Pückler Museum.

Roadbook
We start the Cucumber Cycle Path in Lubolz near Lübben. However, you can join the route from any other town. Suitable starting points are especially those with a railway connection. From Lubolz, we cycle via Kasel-Golzig, Sagritz, Golßen, and Rietzneuendorf-Friedrichshof to Brand. There you will find the largest free-span hall in the world. In 2004, the Tropical Islands theme park opened inside it. Afterwards, the route continues past Krausnick into the Krausnick Hills, which form the border between Dahmeland in the northwest and the Spreewald in the southeast. From the highest point, the 144 m high Wehlaberg, we enjoy a great view. Then we cycle through Köthen, circle Neuendorfer Lake, pass Alt Schadow and Groß Leuthen by Groß Leuthener Lake, and soon reach Schlepzig. Here, we can visit the farmers’ and fire brigade museums, the historic mill, and the village church. Next, we follow the Wasserburg Spree to Lübben, where a visit to Lübben Castle and the castle island is recommended.
Back in the saddle, the route goes through Alt Zauche, Neu Zauche, and Straupitz to Burg. There are also some worthwhile sights such as the Bismark Tower, the scattered settlement, and the adventure station. Through Dissen, we reach Peitz and pass the fortress tower and the hut museum before continuing along the Peitz pond landscape. It's not far to Cottbus, where you should plan some time to see at least some of the many sights. Also worth a detour is Branitz Castle with its beautiful park and the Fürst-Pückler Museum.
Then the route goes through Werben and back to Burg. Things missed the first time can now be visited. Afterwards, we cycle on via Suschow and Stradow to Vetschau. Here, the Wendish-German double church and the white stork centre are recommended. Our next stop is the village of Raddusch. Not far from the town is the faithfully reconstructed Slavic castle Raddusch, which is definitely worth a visit. Then it’s on via Leipe to the lagoon village Lehde, where you can choose between the Spreewald museum Lehde, the farmhouse and cucumber museums. From Lehde, it’s not far to Lübbenau with its historic old town, castle, St. Nicholas Church, and Spreewald museum in the gatehouse. From Lübbenau, we finally cycle via Lübben back to Lubolz, our starting point.
The path runs on well-developed, asphalted, and macadamized roads. Smaller sections of the path run through forest roads.
