The agriculturally shaped cultural landscape in the northwestern Tecklenburger Land can be comfortably explored on consistently flat farm roads. Large and lovingly maintained farmhouses amid meadows and fields are a delight. The so-called Tödden houses from the 17th and 18th centuries in the center of Hopsten still testify to the former trade and prosperity of the merchants who traveled the country laden with linen. An old baptismal font outside Hopsten, the wildlife enclosure in Schale, and the historic grain and oil mill in Halverde are interesting suggestions for extending the route with detours. Several shelters along the route invite you to picnic, so even children or less fit cyclists can spend a relaxed and interesting day in the saddle. Hopsten’s cycling network connects to the “Saga Route,” a well-known multi-day tour through the Tecklenburger Land, as well as the “100 Castles Route,” which winds through the entire Münsterland.
