    Author’s recommendation

A visit to the town of Seßlach is mandatory. But the other small towns along the way are also worth seeing and offer affordable and delicious Franconian dishes in the inns.

    Safety information

It is clear that if you have tried too much of the extremely tasty Franconian barley juice, you should leave the bicycle standing.

    Roadbook

We start the circular route at Coburg station heading south along the railway line and then along the Itz river to Niederfüllbach until we are out of Coburg. Then it goes from the street onto the marked cycle path towards Creidlitz and then Bamberg. Now always following the cycle path signs towards Bamberg. Just before Meschenbach, the cycle path crosses the traffic road and continues on the other side towards Bamberg. After about 20 km (almost past Kaltenbrunn), we use the new underpass and ride the cycle path through the village. (Here a brewery inn also awaits thirsty cyclists). Further following the cycle path signs through Untermerzbach (another opportunity to stop) and onward towards Seßlach. After Memmelsdorf, the cycle path continues on the road to Heilgersdorf. Here, however, almost no car traffic is usual.

Before Heilgersdorf, the cycle path turns right. (Those who wish can also ride through the village and take a break at the small brewery). Continue following the cycle signs over hilly cycle paths to Seßlach. A visit to this idyllic small town is then a must. Beautiful half-timbered houses and inns with home-brewed Franconian beer await the cyclists. From Seßlach, take the cycle path northwest towards Hattersdorf (attention: in Seßlach, do not immediately follow the signs to Coburg). After about 1 km outside Seßlach, follow the signs to Coburg/Neuendorf. In Tambach, just after the castle and wild park, follow the signs Coburg/city center towards Weitramsdorf. In Hergramsdorf, turn right again and follow the cycle signs towards Scheuerfeld/Coburg. Through Scheuerfeld, follow the signs and then just follow the cycle path next to the car road the last kilometer to Coburg/city center/station.
