Start at the square and head south past Varvsbacken, where Kristinestad's sailing ships were built. Then continue towards the Camping and Högholmen, where there is the summer restaurant Pavis.
If you want to take an extra trip, you can continue through the old fishing village Skatan to Kanonviken and its beautiful cliffs. There you can admire beautiful stone formations from the Ice Age or have a picnic.
The route then goes back to take you past the Town Hall and the 300-year-old church Ulrika Eleonora towards the northern town. After Tullstugan, continue back to the square and over the long bridge towards the Östra side.
You can take an extra trip to Havsbadet or you can take the shorter route and enjoy the beautiful old buildings on the Östra side. Here you can also take a rowing trip with the boat Olga. Then you take the same route over the bridge to the center, where you can enjoy lunch or dinner in one of the restaurants at the square.

Safety information
At Kanonviken it pays to be careful, especially in winter, on slippery rocks and note that there is no official swimming beach there. Although that doesn’t stop the local residents from taking a dip.
Tips and suggestions
If you want to stop right at the start of the route, there is Lebellska Köpmanshuset at Strandgatan 51. There you can see how a wealthy merchant family lived in Kristinestad in the 1700s and 1800s. Check opening hours at visitkristinestad.fi.
At Bockholmens Camping you probably get Finland's largest ice cream cones! If you don’t believe it, stop by and see for yourself. The ice cream can be enjoyed during a beach walk and you can see the privately owned island Hemgrund located opposite Bockholmen's bathing beach. In the middle of the island you see a sea captain’s villa and by the beach a Mediterranean-style bathhouse.
Kanonviken is the local population’s favorite place for picnics and sunbathing. There you can light a fire, barbecue and swim.
If you are interested in genealogy, you can turn into the Östra side’s cemetery after Stenbron. Guided historic tours are also arranged there in the summer.
