Circular route through the Hausruckviertel
Wels - Lambach - Pramtal - Aschachtal - Aschach - Eferding - via the Obst-Hügelland Nature Park back to Wels.
A beautiful circular route through the Hausruckviertel.
The route includes quite a few rather short climbs.
For strong road cyclists possibly doable in one day.
"Normal cyclists" should take 2 - 3 days.

0.0/0.0 We start in Au bei der Traun.
12.2/12.2 On the Traun Bike Path R4 upstream to Lambach, further on the north side of the Traun, opposite Stadl-Paura, continuing to the Fischerau guesthouse.
5.4/17.6 500 m after the Fischerau we leave the signposted Roman Bike Path variant and turn northwards.
After overcoming 30 meters in elevation, we cross the B 1 and cycle northwards on L 520 through Oberschwaig, Stroham, Willing, until shortly before Unterseling where a road branches right to Staffel.
5.0/22.6 Climb to Staffel, continue straight on to Nölling, further straight on (= 600 m gravel path), then turn left at the asphalt road and descend to Haindorf, cross the district road and cycle 1.5 km steeply uphill to Hirm.
3.8/26.4 Now straight on to Wilhelmsburg and further north to Meggenhofen.
7.0/33.4 Into the centre of Meggenhofen, here we meet the L519, we cycle left uphill on it, cross the A8 motorway (Meggenhofen exit).
Followed by a 3 km flat climb, then the hill is crossed and it goes downhill to Aistersheim.
Turn right and over Viertlbach to Ruhringsdorf.
1.7/35.1 Here the Trattnachtal Bike Path R17 comes from the left, which we now follow to Hofkirchen an der Trattnach.
The Trattnachtal Bike Path goes right; we ride left on the R 21 Pramtal Bike Path.
9.2/44.3 After 600 m we pass under the heavily trafficked B 141, left to Strötting, Watzing, Unter- and Oberstötten, scenic on the ridge via Winkling, Großwaldenberg and Höbeting to Gotthaming.
4.9/49.2 Slightly climbing, we cross the motorway again, cycle parallel to the motorway 3 km over Buchegg, Reinhartsberg.
Then finally to the north side of the motorway (left the chapel St. Nikola) and down to Pram.
6.3/55.5 On the Pramtal Bike Path further north over Edt, Durrach, Natzing, Vorderndobl, Schatzdorf and Primingsdorf to Dorf an der Pram.
5.0/60.5 Continue north over Hohenerlach and Ottenedt to Riedau.
Further over Schwaben/Wildhag to Zell an der Pram.
10.5/71.0 Here the Pramtal path turns left, we cycle right on the newly starting Aschachtal Bike Path (eastwards).
Via Würting, Hochedt, Wohlmarch, Putzenbach, Oberurleinsberg to Adenbruck.
10.1/81.1 Eastwards over Mühlbrenning, Waasnerau, (left Bruck an der Aschach and Peuerbach, right Bruck-Wasen) Niederweiding, Edtmühle, Erleinsdorf, Schicking, Aschach to Waizenkirchen.
12.3/93.4 Out of Waizenkirchen to the northeast to Inzing, short climb and at Purgstall into the beautiful forest gorge of the Aschach.
Always gently descending to the end of the gorge.
Here the heavily used B 130 comes from the left from Passau (from the Schlögener Loop).
8.7/102.1 3 km bike lane right of the B 130, then we briefly cycle right and visit the pilgrimage church in Hilkering.
Then back to the Aschachtal Bike Path and over Hachlham, Haizing and Kellnering to Aschach an der Donau.
We ate well and stayed overnight in Aschach (Gasthof Sonne) and continued our round trip the next day.
3.8/105.9 On the Danube Bike Path downstream to the mouth of the Aschach in Brandstatt.
2.1/108.0 Here we leave the Danube and cycle inland on the R 18 Eferding Landl Path.
Via Waschpoint and Wörth to Eferding (Brandstätter Straße).
1.9/109.9 The R 18 (Eferding Landl Path) goes east here and leads to the R 17 (Trattnachtal Path).
We want to get to know Eferding, so we cycle into town on the bike lane of Brandstätter Straße to the "Eferding Cathedral" and Starhemberg Castle.
Then south on Schaumburgerstraße, briefly east (200 m) on Innerer Graben, then south again (on Welser Straße) out of the town.
We meet the R 18 (Eferding Landl Path) again.
2.3/112.2 Southwards on the L 531 (= R 18) to Fraham.
In Fraham we meet the R 17 (= Trattnachtal Path) again, on which we could cycle relatively flat over Simbach, Hörsdorf, Steinholz, Breitenaich to Finklham (approx. 8 km).
On the second day of our cycling round we have a rather relaxed program, so we can also include the Obst-Hügel-Land Nature Park.
4.1/116.3 We stay on the L 531 (= road to Wels) and cycle over Steinberg and Leppersdorf into the Obst-Hügelland.
Steep climb to Scharten.
6.6/122.9 After Scharten 1 km (50 meters elevation) further climb to Hochscharten (wonderful view).
After another kilometre, 2 roads branch off to the right from the main road.
We take the second (ascending) and cycle on the ridge to a junction.
Right and left go down to Finklham.
We took the left road.
At the next junction go right and arrive in the valley of the Innbach at Finklham.
2.1/125.0 We are now back on the R 17 (Trattnachtal Bike Path) and turn left.
Through Furth to Hilling.
4.1/129.1 Turn right, cross the railway, cycle 700 m northwest on the Wallener Bundesstraße, turn left in Parzham, pass south of Wallern and Bad Schallerbach, cross the railway and reach the motorway junction.
6.3/135.4 We leave the Trattnachtal Path and switch to the R 19 (Panorama Path).
Along B 134 1 km south to Winkeln, right angle east over the Hungerberg to Haag.
Further south to Krenglbach and via Alkrucken to Gfereth.
8.9/144.3 Over Oberthan south into the centre of Wels.
Further south until we reach the Traun and thus the R4 (Roman Road or Traun Path).
6.9/151.2 Turn right and follow R4 upstream back to our starting point in Au bei der Traun.
