Along the Brigach, a source river of the Danube, we pass numerous river bends through the villages of Aufen, Grüningen, and Klengen. On the old Roman road from Klengen to Grüningen, we enjoy a magnificent view of the Swabian Alb's ridges and the Brigach.

Roadbook
The starting point is the station in Donaueschingen. We follow the signs 3 and 3V first towards Wolterdingen, later towards Brigachtal. Alternatively, we can also start the route in Aufen. Here we turn left behind the tracks. We ride along Bergring towards St. Mauritius Church along the Brigach with its beautiful riverside vegetation, passing reeds, bushes, and willows until reaching Grüningen. Once there, we can visit St. Mauritius Church with medieval wall paintings. If we choose the shorter variant, we turn right in Grüningen and follow the signs 3V back towards Aufen. After a climb, we reach Kapellenbuck and the Roman road. On the longer variant, a climb awaits us up Kirchberg. We turn right towards Brigachtal and follow the bike signposts towards the hamlet Beckhofen/Donaueschingen. On this section, we have a magnificent view of the Brigach valley. On the descent to Beckhofen we can relax a bit. Then we continue along the bike signposts through the Brigach floodplain. Passing several sculptures, we reach Klengen, a district of the municipality Brigachtal, formed due to the administrative reform in Baden-Württemberg from the municipalities Klengen, Kirchdorf, and Überauchen. The municipality got its name from the river. We continue towards Donaueschingen and leave Klengen. Now a climb awaits us on the Brigachtal local mountain, Kapellenbuck. We follow the signs on the former Roman road, which was an important traffic route during Roman times. Here we enjoy the view into the Brigach valley and towards the Swabian Alb and follow the Roman road towards Aufen, past the Bundeswehr shooting range and along the Brigach floodplain back to the starting point.
