The Bode Cycle Path crosses the Salzlandkreis with a length of 49 km. It connects the Saale Cycle Path with the EuroVelo R1 route, with the R1 running together with the Bode Cycle Path from Nienburg to Gänsefurth. For a short section it is also accompanied by the 3-Rivers Cycle Path, which leaves the Bode Cycle Path at Hohenerxleben and can alternatively be ridden as a circular route via Ilberstedt, Bernburg to Nienburg.
Following the course of the Bode, the route leads to Hadmersleben and further into the Harz. However, no cycle paths are signposted as Bode Cycle Path here; local roads and paths must be used.

If you start the route in Nienburg, you should definitely visit the monastery church St. Martien and St. Cybrian. Due to its unique equipment, the building is one of the sights of the Romanesque Road. Nienburg is located at the confluence of the Bode and Saale and was first mentioned in a document in 961.
From Nienburg, following the R1 and 3-Rivers Cycle Path, you ride to Neugattersleben and Hohenerxleben. In Hohenerxleben a visit to the castle is worthwhile. Then the route leads to the salt town of Staßfurt. This 1200-year-old town is characterized by the thriving salt industry and potash mining. A visit to the city and mining museum provides extensive information about salt mining in Staßfurt.
Another visitor highlight not far from the cycle route is the basilica in Hecklingen, built from the 12th century, and one of the best-preserved churches on the Romanesque Road. To reach Hecklingen, the regional cycle path "Around the Löderburger See" is used. After the detour to Hecklingen, the Bode Cycle Path passes by the Löderburger See through the "Egelner Mulde" and then you reach the Börde town of Egeln. But first, a visit to Rothenförde is recommended, as a fully functional weir from the 18th century still recalls a milling era here.
Upon arrival in Egeln, visitors encounter a well-preserved, over 800-year-old water castle which invites you to linger with a museum, a hostel, and numerous events. Another sight is the monastery church Marienstuhl. It is an important example of Central German baroque art. The current monastery church was built in 1732-34 as the last building during the monastery renovation started in 1696.
You leave Egeln and head towards Etgersleben. From here, the cycle path continues towards Oscherleben and the Harz, where there are no signposts as the Bode Cycle Path.
