On this route without significant climbs, we cycle through original Eifel villages with regionally typical renovated farmhouses and across fields and open country.
Between the idyllic village of Birtlingen and Messerich, we are accompanied by the babbling of the Nims before reaching the former railway line - the Nims cycle path - again. In Messerich, a stop at the lovingly furnished farm café is worthwhile. Here you can enjoy homemade cake and a great selection of drinks.
In the village of Oberstedem, the route passes the farm shop Arens, where many homemade sausage specialties, Eifel spirits, and much more are available.
Later, we cycle over farm roads towards Scharfbillig. Shortly before, we turn left towards the airfield. The route takes us just a short distance over the service and leisure center airfield Bitburg. We follow the direction signs towards the city center.
Author’s recommendation
Visit the small but fine farm café including an art gallery "Creative Gallery - The Farm Café" (open Sundays from 2 - 6 pm). Enjoy a homemade piece of cake as well as delicious coffee specialties.
