Between castles and harbours on Fehmarn
This tour explores the eastern side of the island. It takes us to the coast, with its hills and the tranquil villages in the island's interior, which have a few surprises in store for us.
After a short detour to the Fährhafen (1), we start our tour at the school in Puttgarden. We leave the town in an easterly direction and shortly thereafter pass under the main road and the railway tracks that lead to the harbour. Behind the rails, however, we turn right towards Marienleuchte. In the village, the road curves towards the Baltic Sea and we see a lighthouse on the left. Now the expanse of the sea stretches out before us. We cycle directly along the beach or can take a dip in the water in between. At the Presen dyke (2) we can cycle along the asphalt revetment. After passing Presen, the shore path ends at a small car park and we turn right there. However, not without first taking a look at the beginning steep bank. We follow the route past the Klingen-Berg (15.3 m) and a wind farm and then cycle right to Klausdorf. In the village we keep left and continue straight ahead until we reach a T-junction, where we turn left. We then reach Gahlendorf, pass the houses and turn
