The short gravel bike tour north of Bern takes us from Spitalacker via Länggasse and the Halenbrücke, Uettligen and Wahlendorf to the Chutzenturm.
Return to Bern goes via Frieswil, Salvisberg and the north shore of the Wohlensee.
The route follows the moderately busy main road until shortly before Säriswil. The side road to Wahlendorf is partially quite steep. Shortly after Wahlendorf, the gravel bike comes into its own on the forest paths up to the Chutzenturm.
A climb up the tower is of course mandatory and is rewarded with a great view :-). There are even bike racks available at the foot of the Chutzenturm.
The single trail with a short downhill can be bypassed by following the forest road to the first right turn from the tower. From Frieswil / Salvisberg to Eymatt, the respective side roads are followed again.
Less experienced riders stay on the asphalt in Eymatt and follow the signposted bike path. Experienced riders make a short excursion to the right onto the gravel path and collect a few additional meters of elevation there. From Steinisweg, the signposted bike route can be followed; if there are not too many walkers, the beach path along the lake is also an alternative.
The main road is crossed at the roundabout in Hinterkappelen, and it goes along the Aare River to the Halenbrücke. From here, we follow the path we have already taken in the other direction.
