The Bachforelle Experience Route extends from the "Harzkristall" glass manufactory near Derenburg to the marketplace in Wernigerode. Along the nearly 10 kilometers, there are 8 information boards that bring the life of the brook trout closer to all interested visitors.
Most stations are located at fish ladders, which replace or make the former transverse structures passable for fish, thus ensuring ecological connectivity of the Holtemme river.
Especially children can learn a lot about the habitat and family life of the brook trout in a playful way with the help of the accompanying booklet. But there is also a lot to learn about the use of water power and about the trout as an emblematic animal.

Roadbook
The starting point is opposite the "Harzkristall" glass manufactory at the information board "Bachforelle Experience World". From there, we ride past the glass manufactory and cross the Holtemme. Then we continue on the Holtemme bike path towards Wernigerode. Shortly after, we discover the 2nd station.
Continuing on the bike path, we reach Silstedt. There, we initially find ourselves at a junction. Here we turn left into Glockengasse. After a few meters, we turn right into Pfingstgras Street. At the end of the buildings, we then turn right again onto the bike path. After a further 250 m, we already reach the 3rd station. After about one kilometer, the 4th station comes into view.
The 5th station is located very close to the Rothen Mill. There is also the possibility to take a short break here. After passing under the highway, we reach the 6th station. From here, the route continues over the Holtemme to the street "Im Stadtfelde." Shortly before the B244 is the 7th station. Continuing along the street, we see on the left side a playground near which the 8th and last station is located.
From here, it continues to Schlachthofstraße and then turns left through the tunnel towards the city center.
At Helthauerplatz, we turn into Gustav-Petri Street and from there we reach the marketplace.
