Itinerary along the banks of the Bacchiglione River. Mixed route: asphalt and gravel
The Bacchiglione cycle path starts from Longare, a beautiful village located at the foot of the Berici Hills. The route extends for a total of 35km and follows the winding course of the Bacchiglione river, offering the possibility to open your eyes towards the Venetian countryside.
Near the Castle of San Martino della Vaneza, in the locality of Cervarese Santa Croce, we suggest a stop. The small fortress represented an important strategic center of military defense in medieval times, later a renowned reference for merchant traffic. It is owned by the Province of Padua and hosts the Archaeological Museum of the Bacchiglione river.
Resuming the ride, you will encounter the inhabited center of Saccolongo before entering the city, in Padua from the southwest. You will first encounter the areas of the Allegri civil airport and then the outlines of the city of the Saint. The route ends in the city center, in the corner called Canton del Gallo.
