Right at the start in Haselünne, you can explore either the open-air and local history museum or the distillery museum. The next stop is in Lähden to visit the exciting natural history house that brings the local flora and fauna to life both indoors and outdoors. Finally, you reach the cultural village of Ahmsen. Besides the forest stage, which with more than 60,000 spectators per season is considered the most visited amateur open-air theatre in the north, there is also the art forum here: Also outdoors, you can discover paintings, sculptures and architecture in six galleries.
A little past Ahmsen, you leave Emsland for a worthwhile detour into the Oldenburg Münsterland: In Löningen, you can enjoy the nostalgic fascination of historic cinema technology: The Kinotechnische Sammlung Dr. Heinz Dobelmann e.V. shows various projectors and invites you to screenings in a cinema hall styled on the 1950s (dates and opening hours: www.historische-kinotechnik.de).
Back to Haselünne, the route now follows the idyllic course of the Hase. Stops are worthwhile along the way at the Lucas farmhouse museum with its beautiful farm garden, at the Aselager windmill, and – for a refreshing break – in the pretty little town of Herzlake. On the very last stretch of the path, you can enjoy a very special landscape: the Haselünne cattle pasture nature reserve with the largest juniper heath in northern Germany. An adventure trail makes clear how the cows help preserve this natural space.

From the bike path to the water; how about a detour on the Hase with a canoe?
