STARTING POINT of this route is the Rimker Tor at the city corner (lower Breite Street). Here you will find an overview map of various cycling routes in the region. Lockable bicycle boxes are available at Rimker Tor.
We cycle straight uphill along Halberstädter Street and cross the road at the town exit. From here, the path runs alongside the road on a cycle path (R1) towards Benzingerode. In the center of the town, we already see the “Plan”, the village square by the church, where there is also a playground. Here we turn left and cycle past the church. At the fire station, we turn right onto the country path, which first leads us uphill along the flank of the “Augstberg”, then downhill again to the new federal highway B 6. Caution is advised on this section as the path has some unpaved parts. We follow the farm track along the federal highway westwards to the next bridge, where we cross the four-lane road and follow the adjacent concrete track to Silstedt.
At the first crossroads, we turn right into “Clara-Zetkin-Straße”. Now it goes straight on via “Ahornweg” to “Holzweg”, into which we turn left. We cycle straight along “Holzweg” until we reach “Hauptstraße” (L 82) and cross it at the pedestrian crossing, visible on our right. After crossing this road, we keep to the right and follow the street in a slight left bend downhill, past the natural monument lime tree and the inn “Zur Linde”. Behind the inn, we turn left again into the street “Am Wasser”, which leads us in a gentle curve to “Glockengasse”, which we follow on the right to the next crossroads. Here we turn left again slightly uphill to the small village square where the “Ernst Koch” museum farm is located. Now we follow the narrow street that leaves the village square to the right next to the museum farm, cross a ford shortly afterwards and reach the former site of the “Harzmolkerei Silstedt”. Here we first turn left, then immediately right along the “Holtemme-Radweg” to the edge of the village Minsleben.
Here we cross the Holtemme and follow the street into the village. At the first crossroads, we keep left and continue straight ahead where the main street turns right (Caution when crossing!) on the path “Am Wasser”. This path leads past the playground (right), Minsleben estate mill (left) and the church. At the end of the path, we turn left down the old cobbled street to the former manor. Directly in front of the former manor house, we turn right again and reach Minsleben estate park, which we cross. We leave the estate park southwest behind the ponds via a narrow wooden bridge, the path then curves along the poplar-lined Barrenbach. At the next crossroads, we turn right and follow the path uphill to the road to Reddeber. At the road, we turn left onto the adjacent foot and cycle path which we follow to Reddeber.
In Reddeber, we turn left before the church into “Halbe Straße”, pass the playground and then turn right into “Thiestraße”, which shortly meets the “Dorfstraße”. We cycle left along the “Dorfstraße”, which leads us to the edge of the village and the bus turning area. Here we continue straight or slightly right on the adjacent foot and cycle path along L 86, crossing the federal highway B 6 and reaching Reddeber pond at the edge of Wernigerode. At Reddeber pond, we cross federal highway B 244 (Caution!) and follow concrete tracks along the northern edge of the Wernigerode residential area “Charlottenlust” (with playground) and below the Lustberg. We continue straight ahead, cross another busy road (Caution!) and shortly afterwards reach “Halberstädter Weg” to Darlingerode.
At the end of the path, we turn left and then straight on, through the way between two houses to “Friedensstraße” (L 85). Here we turn left and follow Friedensstraße to the town exit towards Wernigerode. On the adjacent foot and cycle path on the left side, we cycle towards Wernigerode. Passing Hasseröder Brewery and the gearbox factory we reach the town. Always straight ahead on Ilsenburger Straße, past the “swimming pool” (right) we reach Wernigerode Clinic (right). At the “hospital crossroads”, we cross the road to the left and continue past the open-air pool “Waldhofbad”. At the “Altstadtkreisel” roundabout, we do not enter the tunnel but follow the foot and cycle path on the right. Through the traffic-calmed area at the roundabout, we continue straight ahead. We cross “Albert-Bartels-Straße” and continue straight past the fire station (left). At the Rosenkreisel roundabout, we turn right into the first street (Rudolf-Breitscheid-Str.) and reach our starting point of the route.
