We begin our lake circuit below the castle in Plau am See. The Burgturm (1) towers over the rest of the townscape and marks our starting point. Heading south, we ride on Große Burgstraße over the Elde and then along Dammstraße to the lake shore. On flat terrain, we enjoy the picturesque Plauer See (2), located in the west of the Mecklenburg Lake District and considered an absolute paradise for water sports. Accordingly, the sails of surfers, catamarans, and ships are numerous, creating lively activity on the water. With this scenery in mind, we cycle past the villages of Silbermühle and Dresenower Mühle, which are named after the mills that once stood here. The wetlands gradually give way to denser trees that provide welcome shade. Slightly hilly, the path goes around the tranquil Bad Stuer, which lies at the southernmost lake extension. From the former hydrotherapy center, we continue to stay directly on the shore. We pass the small Suckower See before the route sharply turns right and reaches Suckow. Here, we briefly leave the water, go through the few houses, and enter a small woodland. At a clearing, we reach the church village of Zislow, which we pass along Dorfstraße before following a country road past the Schälchenstein and several burial mounds. We skirt widely around the Großer Pätschsee and then approach the Plauer See again on more open terrain. At Lenzer Höh (3), we enjoy the stunning view over the water surface before passing the narrow spot connecting Petersdorfer See and Plauer See and reaching the town area of Lenz. Here, there is an option to shorten the return route by taking a boat back to Plau. However, our suggested route continues along the lakeside path at the forest edge along the picturesque northern shore of Plauer See (4). After some time, we leave the trees behind and ride through beautiful wetlands via Jürgenshof to Wendorf. Here, we cross a bridge to Plauer Werder, which we then circle clockwise. On the west side, we pass a wonderful bathing beach (5), where it is worth getting off the saddle to take a break with a refreshing dip in the cool water. Afterwards, we pass the holiday park Alt Schweriner Werder before returning to the mainland. Between blue water and green meadows, we approach the northernmost point of the route, which we reach behind the lookout tower “Moorochse” (6) at the peat bog. We have long been following the B192, which we soon leave to the left and then follow the B103. This takes us in a straight line over the Leistener Lanke into the town of Quetzin and through greenery back to Plau am See, where we complete the lake circuit. Below the Burgturm, we have reached our destination and can look forward to a coffee in the old town.
