Hochspeyer is a municipality on the northern edge of the Palatinate Forest. The former collective municipality of Hochspeyer, which also included the localities of Fischbach, Frankenstein, and Waldleiningen, offers a 36 km cycling circular route around Hochspeyer. The well-signposted route mainly follows unpaved or asphalted forest roads through the dense Palatinate Forest with two major climbs (Steinkopf and Heiligenberg), but also through two romantic valleys (Leinbach and Diemerstein valleys).

Route description
The starting point of the circular route is the S-Bahn stop in Frankenstein. First, you take a left on the main road to the Diemerstein junction. The path leads below the castle, initially without significant incline, past Villa Denis, through Diemerstein into the romantic Diemerstein valley. At the end of the valley, the route becomes more demanding. It now goes steeply uphill. Once you have reached the height of the Steinkopf, you ride almost without incline on the ridge to an asphalted road, where you turn left. Steeply downhill, you reach Altenhof. On the road-adjacent cycle path, you ride until shortly before the motorway exit. Here you turn left onto a small forest path parallel to the motorway. After one kilometer, you meet a former military road, which you turn left onto. The initially asphalted road turns after about 2.4 km at a fork into a non-asphalted forest path. After another 1.4 km, you reach federal road B 37, which you must cross. On the other side of the road, the cycle path climbs to Heiligenberg a second time, but less steeply. After 5.5 km through dense forest, you must cross federal road B 48. This is followed by a small climb on an asphalted forest path. Afterwards, you ride almost without incline to the junction to Waldleiningen. Steeply downhill, you cycle on the lightly trafficked road to the town entrance. There, you turn left into the Leinbach valley, which leads you to federal road B 39. Along B 39, you cycle on the cycle path back to the starting point Frankenstein.
