Wonderful variant in very spacious terrain, also suitable for weaker skiers. However, the steep, often heavily tracked descent towards Stuben is often unpleasant.

The Gaisleger is a much-traveled variant that impresses with very spacious and varied terrain in the middle section. The short approach and length of the descent make this variant one of the great classics in Stuben. The last part of the descent leads through steep, often heavily tracked terrain and can be somewhat unpleasant. Very often, the last few meters are avoided and from about 1700m elevation, one changes direction towards the east to get onto the ski slope. The track onto the slope should already be established by local ski guides, as finding the track through bushes and shrubs is not easy.
Author’s recommendation
Hotel Post, located directly at the end of the descent, is perfect for lunch and a stopover.

Caution on the first slope. Don't cross too far out and ski with a large distance or individually. Choose a meeting point far enough in flat terrain.Tips and suggestions

From the mountain station Albonagratbahn, follow the Sonnleiten ski slope to the Albonagrat restaurant and pass it on the south side. Now you stay in flat terrain and push past the north side of Maroikopf until you reach a relatively steep slope. This slope must be assessed critically, especially with snow drifts and wind from the south. After that, the terrain opens up and becomes less steep. It goes down in spacious terrain to the north towards Stuben. It is important to orient yourself orographically at the right high-voltage pylon to get onto the correct glade leading to Stuben.
