Storhornet is Oppdal’s most visited mountain and winter is undoubtedly the high season. The top offers panoramic views of the most diverse mountain range in Norway, known for its rounder mountain peaks and wide valleys. This route is known for its excellent powder and sunny conditions on nice days.
At the top sits a small stone cabin and Storhornet is the only mountaintop in Trollheimen with such a structure. Between 2,500 and 3,000 adventurers visit every year. The cabin is a handy shelter for a quick change of clothes and to enjoy a snack.
Oppdal has a range of accommodation options available, including cabins, hotels, and Airbnbs.

Directions
The tail starts at the parking lot by Breen gård, “Breen farm”. Follow road 70 west from Oppdal for nearly 11 km until you come to Festa. Turn right where the signs direct you towards Gjevilvassdalen. After passing the supermarket, continue to the left. Cross the bridge over the Festa river and keep to the right at the junction. After approximately 800 meters you’ll find Breen gård on the right-hand side of the road. There’s a small fee for parking.
