At first glance, one might think this variant merely follows the regular ski route over the Mattunjoch. Actually, the difference lies in the details. The regular ski route can be cleverly left orographically on the left in the truest sense of the word, allowing you to catch the beautiful slopes in the middle section.
In the second part of the descent, be warned against switching to the regular ski route. This usually offers little more than an endless bumpy slope until you finally reach the Steißbach valley.

Even though the Mattunjoch ski route is initially a standard ski route, accidents happen here again and again. The terrain is repeatedly very steep, rugged, and strongly blown in by the west winds. Keep your head and eyes open! The motto here must be: When in doubt, better keep away from the steep eastern slopes!Tips and suggestions
