Selected alternatives for you
A very impressive scenic variant descent, where you are almost always rewarded with a few untracked turns. The long traverse in the Hinterrendl and the inconvenient endpoint at MPREIS in St. Jakob make the route a bit more demanding.

A very impressive scenic variant that leads high above the Hintere Rendl and usually rewards the effort with a few good turns. Since you have to lay the traverse in the Hintere Rendl very skillfully, you should only do this variant if the traverse is already tracked.

After the traverse, the variant passes through avalanche barriers, which is very impressive and exciting. The subsequent wide slopes up to the tree line are protected from wind and sun and therefore almost always offer good snow, except if the 0-degree boundary rises too high. At the tree line, you then skillfully join the forest road, which leads down to St. Jakob.

    Roadbook

Start at the Riffel II mountain station. Down into the Hintere Rendl until you cross orographically right at about 2250 meters above sea level. Watch out for the catchment areas of Zwölferkopf! Follow the traverse until you reach the avalanche barriers and pass the boundary fence at a suitable spot. After slipping through the barriers several times, you reach a drag path, which you follow for about 150 meters and then, depending on the depth of the tracks and conditions, ride the flattening slopes to the north. Good turns up to the tree line and then down to St. Jakob on the forest road.
