Kitzsteinhorn - X1 Ice Age
Selected alternatives for you
At 2,900 m, between the top station of the Magnetköpfl lifts and the valley station of the glacier shuttle, you will find the best entry to the ICE AGE route. The approximately 2,000 m long route runs beneath the summit lift through the entire cirque. After a steep slope follows a rather flat section, then a steep middle part that leads into piste no. 2, which goes to the Sonnenkar lifts.

Author’s recommendation
Especially after fresh snow, you should be quick, as the slopes get tracked out very fast. But even afterwards, it is still a lot of fun to break through the pristine world of powder eights with big mountain turns.

Gipfel Restaurant Kitzsteinhorn (3.029m)Safety information
Choose drop-in at the summit exit only under absolutely safe conditions and with sufficient skill.Roadbook
The first and highest freeride route at Kitzsteinhorn starts at 3,029 m altitude. Especially after fresh snow, you should be quick here, as the descent is very easily accessible. The somewhat more difficult drop-in, which should only be chosen under safe conditions and ridden individually, is located directly at the top station of the summit lift. If conditions or your own skill do not allow it, take the glacier shuttle down to 2,900 m altitude. From here, the drop-in is much easier and also safer. Ahead lies a wide field. Here the freerider has no limits. First, it goes a bit steeper over wide slopes that practically invite big mountain turns, and finally transitions into moderate slopes. Shortly before the target point it gets steeper again. On skier's right, after a short traverse section, there are several possibilities to drop small and medium rocks before reaching piste no. 2 after the last steep section. Now speed is needed to reach the valley station of the Sonnenkar lift.
