Kaunertal - Weißseejoch variant - "Check Your Line" project
At first glance, the idea seems simple: four boards that accompany a freerider from the lift entry to the end of a run covering nearly 700 vertical meters. With targeted questions, it encourages reflection on one’s own behavior. At the same time, the boards provide many useful pieces of information. This lays the foundation for making independent and responsible decisions for or against a descent or a particular line.
The starting point of the "Check Your Line" project is at the valley station of the Karlesjochbahn near the glacier parking lot, where the first information board is located and asks basic questions in the categories "I", "Group", "Equipment", and "Alpine." The next board is at the top station of the Karlesjochbahn, the actual starting point of the route. From there, it initially leads on gently sloping terrain in a northeast direction and serves the "Weißseejoch" variants.
The third board is located at the so-called "Ferner Egg," where the first "real" descent begins and the terrain becomes significantly more challenging. The fourth board finally marks the end point of the route at Weißsee, in the immediate vicinity of the middle station of the Ochsenalmbahn, from where it returns to the starting point at the glacier parking lot.
