Evaluate the avalanche risk: the steep slopes and channels which descend from the adjacent mountainside to the Ces-Tognola ski lift can kick off at any time, as is the case with the slopes below the containment nets on the return route. Take care of the various jumps of varying heights in the wooded area. As the forest return route is used by both cross-country and alpine skiers, take particular care and moderate your speed on descent.
Remember, snowpack stability is subject to sudden and unforeseeable changes and shifts. Always check the local avalanche bulletin (www.meteotrentino.it or any other service that suits your needs) before departure and make sure you gather all possible information concerning current conditions at the Mountain Guides’ office. (+39 0439 768795 – info@aquilesanmartino.com ). GPS routes are merely indicative of the more reasonable track but must not be followed blindly without first checking current slope and terrain conditions. Safety, evaluation capacity and knowledge are extremely important and fundamental aspects for those who want to practise outdoor activities in winter. In the following lines you can find some useful advice to practise outdoor activities in safe conditions:
-choose an itinerary that meets your psychophysical and technical conditions
-contact the Alpine Guides to verify if the tour is feasible. If you are not an expert, go on tour with a professional guide
-don't go on tour alone
-before going, tell someone your destination and at what time you plan to be back
-check the local bulletin giving information about snow, weather and avalanches
-check the equipment and be sure that the self-rescue kit (arva, probe and shovel rescue) is appropriately working

Roadbook
Ascent description From the chairlift arrival point at Ces, take the Colbricon route for around 300 metres until it noticeably curves to the right before a short wall. Begin to ascend towards a wide mountain shoulder a little uphill until reaching it. From here, begin the easy ascent of the slopes of the Colbricon peaks towards the Val Cigolera fork until finding the Ceremana fork on the right hand side shortly afterwards (approx. 30 min.)
Descent description From the fork, ski the beautiful slope below, where there is no obligatory route, until reaching the Ceremana plain, recognised by a large porphyry mass on the right of the clearing. Follow the orographic right along the military track which leads into the woods, then cross the bank of the stream twice (sometimes pushing due to the slight slope), quickly reaching Paneveggio lake. Follow the edge of the lake to the right for around 2km on the forest road until you reach the car park in Pùlesi (return in San Martino with taxi: http://www.sanmartino.com/EN/taxi/ )

Equipment
For all off-piste skiing activities, the proper apparel is strongly recommended. Skiers must bear in mind that temperatures can dip quickly and garments should also be suitable for snowy conditions (such as waterproof Gore-Tex jackets). Furthermore, gloves, cap, sun glasses and sun cream should also form part of every off-piste skier’s basic gear.
It’s also important to bear in mind that tight fitting or insufficiently waterproof ski boots can cause frostbite.
It’s also COMPULSARY to carry with you an avalanche rescue kit consisting of avalanche transceiver, probe and shovel (this is also available for rent).
A suitable helmet and other safety equipment are also strongly recommended (avalanche airbags etc.).
