Weißkugel

From the parking lot near the Inner Glieshof in the inner Matscher Valley (guesthouse, 1807 m), follow the beautiful wide path 1 downhill to the valley station of the hut material cable car, then ascending more steeply over open mountain slopes to the Oberettes hut (2677 m; possible overnight stay here); from Glieshof 2:30 hours – from the hut then always follow the signposts “Weißkugel” and the good markings first northeast to the nearby fork in the path, turn left here, soon crossing a wooden bridge over a glacier stream and then steeply, but not difficult, ascending over grassy and later rocky slopes to the ridge notch “Hochgang” (about 3000 m; view of Weißkugel); now continuing on the well-marked path descending about 10 minutes along a rocky slope into the flat moraine area of the Matscher glacier and to its tongue (about 2900 m).
