The Spaghetti route is an impressive but certainly demanding high-altitude crossing in the Valais, where twelve peaks over 4,000 m are climbed. Vast glaciers, narrow ridges, and exposed climbing sections make the route from Klein Matterhorn to Dufourspitze and then down towards Gornergrat a high alpine undertaking only recommended for experienced mountaineers.
As many 4,000 m peaks as nowhere else lie here, between Matterhorn and Monte Rosa, lined up like a string of pearls in a small area. With Liskamm, Signalkuppe, Zumsteinspitze, Nordend, and Dufourspitze, some of Switzerland's highest peaks are climbed on this five-day route, always accompanied by a magnificent panorama. The path partly runs along narrow ridges over long stretches directly on the border ridge between Switzerland and Italy. Absolute sure-footedness and a head for heights are essential here. The altitude, which mostly ranges between 3,500 m and 4,500 m, should not be underestimated either.
