Ascent via Moisealm, Neuwirthsteig, Aperes Schareck and a short quite flat glacier passage.
Descent via a thrilling ridge path (= Pröllweg) to Niedersachsenhaus and then back to Sportgastein (Valeriehaus)
Arrival: From the Gasteiner Valley to Sportgastein. The last section is a toll road: 5.50 euros per person. With Gasteiner Card 5 euros.

Ascent route: Neuwirthsteig. This is the easier path. It offers no shade and no opportunity to refill water. Quite steep but safe. The glacier section was completely harmless on our day: quite flat, surface quite grippy, no crevasses visible
We started at 08:30 and reached the summit of Schareck around 12:30.
Great view! Among others, of the Hoher Sonnblick (one of the next peaks) and the Großglockner. Very mild weather, only light wind, wonderful sun. Less nice is the ski area on the other side (towards Fragant).
Lunch break and siesta.
Mass just below the summit: truly impressive.
Descent: Around 15:00 we start the descent. We dare the descent via the lovely ridge! This path is mostly quite easy to walk, requiring a head for heights here and there. Two places are a bit more difficult: but there are ropes and pins installed, to hold on very well. The ridge path is called Pröllweg. It is a wonderful path with a magnificent view on both sides!

About 19:15 back at the parking lot in Sportgastein (Valeriehaus).
