Safety information
The physical demand on the second day should not be underestimated and requires careful route planning and a good assessment of your own abilities. If in doubt, climb Anichspitz and/or Hinterer Spiegelkogel on the 1st day, or omit them.Roadbook
Day 2: On the following day, an early start is recommended as several three-thousanders and a long descent back to Vent are planned. The day begins with the ascent to the Hinterer Spiegelkogel (advantage of this variant: most of the luggage can be left temporarily at the Ramolhaus). New markings lead off from the trail to the Ramoljoch over the east ridge and then further over the northeast ridge to the summit (easy block ridge).
The first half of the descent follows the ascent route over the northeast ridge. Then, however, stay northwards along the ridge to the Ramoljoch and descend via the newly built, secured trail towards the Ramolferner glacier and cross it, passing the Kleiner and Mittlerer Ramolkogel, to the marked east ridge of the Anichspitz. Upon reaching the summit of the Anichspitz, the crossing over the west ridge back down to the Ramolferner is recommended.
Now descend southwards to the Ramolhaus and after a short rest set off towards the Schalfkogel (remember to take your cached luggage again! ;-)). Stone cairns initially mark the way over ledges below the Spiegeljoch and the Firmisan ridge towards Schalfkogel. North of the Firmisanjoch, follow the ridge, partly over snowfields/glacier as well as light ridge climbing, to ascend the Schalfkogel.
The descent takes place via the Diemferner glacier. This can be accessed either already at 3420m, just below the Schalfkogel, or further north at the Firmisan Joch. Then head west or northwest over the glacier (roping up!), the glacier forefield (interesting: glacier level markings) and scree (partly trail traces) downhill until you reach the marked trail (connection between Martin Busch Hut and Ramoljoch). Follow this trail southwards to the track to the Martin Busch Hut. From there you can comfortably return to Vent. Another option to get back to the starting point is the "shortcut" via the Spiegelberg to the Ramolalm: follow the trail northwards and walk below the Vorderer and Mittlerer Spiegelkogel, ascending again to a stream and leave the trail there. You then descend steeply and difficult via Spiegelberg to the streambed of the Ramol Bach (good orientation in alpine terrain required). Crossing this stream is not an easy task (hence there is no guarantee of success for this variant!). On the other side of the stream, a trail leads to the Ramol Alm and from there, after a short descent, Vent is reached. As a third variant, you can follow the trail to path 902 and descend via the Ramol Alm to Vent (additional 200 m ascent to the 902 trail).
