Rötspitze

From Kasern in the inner Ahrntal (1595 m), follow marker 11 first briefly down to the Talbach, then ascending through the forest to the bridge over the Rötbach, continue on path 11 and past various remains of the mine moderately steeply up to the Outer Rötalm (2116 m, refreshment stand), now almost flat through the Röttal and finally moderately steep up to the Lenkjöchl hut near the namesake crossing into the Windtal (2590 m; from Kasern 3–3½ hours); overnight stay here. – From the hut, then a few steps down to the Lenkjöchl, on an unmarked but good path on the south-facing grassy slope and then over scree and boulder terrain with no problems up to the glacier and steeply over it to the shoulder-like Kleine Rötspitze (3290 m); now over the almost horizontal ridge southwestwards without difficulty to the foot of the Rötspitze, on a rocky, initially broad, increasingly narrowing rocky ridge partly on path traces, partly over boulders and solid rock (some places quite exposed, other
