Variant of the normal route from the Kreuzboden mountain station.
Since the Lagginhorn has the reputation of being an easy 4000-meter peak, the Weissmiess Hut is usually fully booked in mid-summer. A varied alternative that also allows a kind of circular route is the Hohsaas mountain hut. This comfortable mountain hotel is directly at the cable car station, thus even saving a hut approach. From the Hohsaas mountain hut, a partly secured path leads to the Lagginhorn Glacier, over which you ascend to the WSW ridge (normal route). This leads by easy climbing (I, one section II) to the summit. The last 200 vertical meters, the ridge is wide but 40-45° steep and mostly covered with firn. Safe walking with crampons is indispensable here. Unfortunately, several accidents have already occurred here; the mountain must not be underestimated! The descent follows the entire WSW ridge to the Weissmiess Hut, from where it is only a stone's throw to the Kreuzboden mountain station.
