The Keeskogel is a fine, manageable high tour.

A traverse via the north-east ridge, you can enjoy glaciers, crevasses and beautiful ridge climbing.

The tour leads over 3000m and is an excellent tour for beginners, or as a familiarisation tour for the days after.

Once you reach the summit, you have a view of the real "high tours" - the Großer Geiger 3360m and the Großvenediger 3660m.

    Safety information

When "sitting" on the ridge, the edge gap can be covered with firn snow and is therefore difficult to see!

    Roadbook

Behind the Kürsingerhütte the described path begins, which you follow north-east for approx. 45 minutes.

At approx. 2800m the path bends to the left, where you leave the path and walk over pathless terrain for approx. 30 minutes until you reach the lower part of the glacier at approx. 2900m.

From here it is advisable to use the "roped-up area" (at least put on your harness, equipment and crampons and have the rope ready to hand).

Now you enter the glacier, which you cross to the start of the saddle. At approx. 3090m you reach the area of the saddle where you "sit" on the ridge --> beware the edge crevasse can be covered with firn snow and is therefore difficult to see!

Once on the ridge, a wonderful block climb begins on the 2nd ridge with mostly good rock quality. The route to the summit is logical and you are rewarded with an excellent view.

The descent is via the signposted normal route.
