Roadbook
We start our route at the Faffleralp. At first, we hike on a wide forest road. Gradually this becomes an impressive hiking path. We always follow the signage "Glacier Experience Trail." The path is very well marked (white-blue-white). Some sections in glacier-polished rock are secured with a fixed rope, mainly as a psychological aid for the inexperienced. Furthermore, bridges over the glacier stream have been built, which we will cross. Essentially, we always hike above the Lang Glacier and alongside it.
A marked junction leads us to the glacier edge. Here, depending on conditions, we will rope up. Then we continue walking on the glacier. We will avoid crevasses and look for a suitable route. Ideally, we stay more to the left when entering the area with the rockfall-prone wall from the right. In this area, we wear rockfall helmets. This wall is in the steepest part of the glacier. Therefore, good route choice is essential.
After the steep climb, we reach the Lötschenlücke. The Hollandia Hut is now not far, but another steep part awaits us. In a right curve, we go around the huge crevasses and thus reach the hut.
(2) Ascent to the Ebnefluh (3h)
From the hut, we ascend the glacier in a left curve. We cannot bypass the wind hollow and must go through it, depending on conditions. Then we follow the Anun ridge towards the Mittaghorn, passing it on the right, and continue to the Äbni Flue col. Here we go in a right curve on the flank of the SW ridge, continuing up to the ridge. Due to the steepness, we sometimes have to ascend in switchbacks. Once we reach the ridge, the summit is not far. We reach it via the partly steep but wide ridge without difficulty.
(3) Descent from the Hollandia Hut (4h)
The descent follows the same route back. However, instead of the Glacier Experience Trail, the path past the Anen hut can also be chosen.
