From the guesthouse Enzianhütte in the Martell valley end (2050 m) on path 150 in about 0:30 hours up to the Zufallhütte (2265 m; managed shelter), then always on path 150 southwestwards and subsequently in a long, partly flat, partly slightly ascending hike always westwards (the path branching off at the dam to the Marteller hut is not considered) through grass-covered slopes into the valley, then further in the glacier forefield to the Langenferner and mostly following the pre-traced route over it, paying attention to hidden crevasses in snowy conditions, in a slight left curve mostly moderately steeply up to the Casati hut at the Langenfernerjoch (3254 m; large glacier-near shelter with over 200 sleeping places at the summit of the innermost Martell valley; slightly higher the small Guasti hut); from Martell 3:30 – 4 hours; possible overnight stay here. – From the hut then over the initially moderately ascending glacier mostly on glacier path southeastwards up to below the steep
