02 Central Alpine Trail West, E07: Zittelhaus - Wallackhaus
The probably most difficult stage of the entire Central Alpine Trail leads us over the endless ridge of the Klagenfurt Jubilee Trail, on which we "take" several three-thousanders, to the Grossglockner High Alpine Road. Alternative route on route 02B!
From the ridge, it goes down into the Upper Jausenscharte with a subsequent short steep ascent to the Schneehorn (3,062 m). The route continues exposed over a ridge again at difficulty level II into the Lower Jausenscharte, followed by an ascent to the Arlthöhe (3,084 m) and over its ridge (climbing) down to another notch and to the Otto-Umlauft-Biwakschachtel (path branching into the Großfleischtal).
Then we climb steeply up to the Krumlkeeskopf (secured), followed by an easier descent to immediately climb the Noespitze (3,005 m). Until the saddle below the Modereck, several "towers" follow before the ascent of the Hinteres Modereck (exposed ridge) requires our concentration. The northern bypass of the Modereck is possible before it goes very steeply down into the Weißenbachscharte (2,656 m) (further path branching into the Großfleischtal).
Our next targets are the Rosscharte, the northern flank of the Rossschartenkopf (path branching to Schareck, 2,606 m), the Tauernkopf (2,628 m), and the Hochtor, from where the Wallack-Haus can be reached to the south via the Grossglockner High Alpine Road.

Safety information
Prerequisites for traversing the "Klagenfurt Jubilee Trail" are certainly mountaineering experience, surefootedness, a head for heights, and skilled handling of rope, ice axe, and crampons. In particular, several climbing sections of difficulty grade II must be mastered. Secure weather and good conditions (no icing!) should be present, and related information should be obtained from the hut keeper of the Zittelhaus.Tips and suggestions
