Normal route on the Zimba as a day route with crossing from the Rellstal into the Brandnertal.
The "Matterhorn" of Vorarlberg is one of the most striking peaks of the Rätikon. This summit is exclusively for climbers; there is no hiking trail leading up. There are three common climbing routes: the normal route via the west ridge (III+), the east ridge (IV), and the north ridge, which is usually only used for descent. The west ridge is well equipped with belay bolts and intermediate bolts. Except for the key section Sohmplatte, the climbing is mostly in the grade II range. The Heinrich-Hueter-Hütte usually serves as the base; if you cannot get an overnight spot there (often fully booked on weekends), you can also do the Zimba as a long day route. If the time window of eight hours between the two buses is not enough, instead of the long footpath through the Rellstal, you can also descend through the beautiful Sarotlatal to Brand, where the buses run until half past 8.
