Via the east ridge to the Watzespitze in the Ötztal Alps
Plaisir? Not here!
The east ridge to the Watzespitze is the perfect route for all who love "proper" mountaineering. Scrambling, climbing, ridge, route finding, abseiling – all-round skills are needed here. A dream route for which it is best to stay at the Kaunergrathütte.
The Kaunergrat counts among the quieter corners of the Ötztal Alps. Long approaches, challenging trails, and spectacularly located huts characterize the area. Numerous wild and partly remote climbing routes await to be visited again. Above it all towers the 3533-meter-high Watzespitze, the "guardian" of the Kaunergrat. Its challenging east ridge has, fortunately, not become an overcrowded hotspot yet, perhaps due to the at times demanding navigation? Those who identify as alpine all-rounders will find pure joy here.
