Almost every visitor to Zermatt knows the Riffelsee; a photo of the Matterhorn reflected in its water surface is a must. On the cheeky rock pinnacle next to it, the Riffelhorn, there is far less crowd than at the Riffelsee. Because the horn cannot be conquered without some climbing. The Riffelhorn is offered by the Zermatt mountain guides as a training route for the Matterhorn. Besides numerous alpine climbing routes on the south face, there is access via the east ridge and the north flank, which moves around difficulty grade 2. Due to the stripped rock (serpentinite), the entry chimney must now rather be rated as grade 3. Attention, the route is not equipped; it must be climbed either free of rope or secured with mobile protection! An abseil
