Sas de la Gujela, Sass de Rocia, Sas de l'Achinèl, and Sas de la Murada are part of the monoliths of Laste and are made of typical Marmolada limestone, very compact and smooth. Various types of routes range from slab, vertical to overhanging. Adherent climbing, delicate. A peculiarity of Sass de Rocia is that on the south side, climbing is possible even on the mildest days of winter.
The largest among the monoliths is Sass de Rocia, almost two hundred meters long and about one hundred meters wide, overhanging on all sides. It is split in half by a crack, the site of the via ferrata that leads to the summit where there is a huge plateau covered by a larch grove on which the 'Bivacco Pian delle Stelle' was built.
Sass de la Murada is a sort of huge sail, overlooking the Cordevole valley in a wonderful panoramic position. Its name recalls that at the summit there are medieval remains of a watchtower from where it was possible to communicate via optical signals with Andraz Castle, Sommariva Castle in Alleghe, and the Agordino area. The easiest ascent route is alpine and rather delicate, although not difficult.
Sass de la Gusela (=needle) is a very elegant and slender spire that rises about seventy meters.
More than 200 climbing lines are recorded in the area, with difficulties ranging from 4 to 8c. Routes vary from slab to vertical with crimps, pockets, there are several overhangs as well as some rare roofs. Climbing is almost always technical, requiring close contact with the rock.
Derived from the technical difficulty and the stamina requirements.
