The October 2013 issue of the Italian Alpine Club magazine, MONTAGNE 360, features an article by Teddy Soppelsa describing the Gabiàn Alpine Loop.
History and mountains come together in a rediscovered route.
The north face of the Cimónega group represents a sort of Dolomite masterpiece, where fantastic geometric shapes follow one another.
The conquest of the summit of Piz de Sagron in August 1877 marked Mariano Bernardi, called el Gabiàn, alpine guide and first conqueror of the peak along with Cesare Tomè and Tommaso da Col, in history. Thus begins the mountaineering history of the Cimónega group.

Author’s recommendation
Mountaineering route during the ascent phase for the direct line. Equipped with quickdraws so harness, helmet, and belay device are necessary. Preferable to traverse counterclockwise.
