Very varied and exciting climbing, in the middle section together with the west edge, otherwise on the steep, banded wall steps to the right of it. Only a few crumbly or grassy passages; magnificent rock in the key pitch! The climbing can also be extended over the uppermost part of the west edge (6+) by 4 pitches. For the long (but scenically beautiful!) approach, this route will definitely “compensate” you. Base camps:Welserhütte, ÖAV, 1815 m; staffed from early June to mid-September; Tel.: 07616-8088 (reachable in 3 hours on marked hiking trail from Almtalerhaus, luggage transport possible); Almtalerhaus, ÖAV, 714 m; staffed from early May to mid-September, Tel.: 0664-5213922 or 07562-8958; cozy hut with good home-style cooking, accommodation possible; both ideal bases for almost all ascents on the north side such as Kreuz, Gr. Priel, Teichlwandl, and Schermberg.
