The Durststrecke is the longest route on the Stadelwand and leads from the lowest to the highest wall point. It is considered a rewarding sport climbing highlight for advanced demands.
The Durststrecke is the longest route on the Stadelwand and leads almost from the lowest wall point to the highest point. In its original condition, after the first ascent from below by Otto Sanz and companions in 1986, it was one of the most demanding routes with moral protection in the Rax/Schneeberg area! In 2007 and 2008, the route was completely renovated, cleaned, and the line partially significantly improved by Otto Sanz and friends. Thus, the Durststrecke now presents itself as a very rewarding sport climbing highlight for demanding climbers with alpine experience! The protection with bolts is good to very good, but not overprotected and with many compulsory passages in grade 6 and lower 7. The rock is mostly excellent, but in some places not entirely reliable. A successful, great revitalization of this classic, which now ranks among the top routes in the area!
