Sledding runs in Thüringer Wald

 The toboggan run over the one-kilometer-long track from the Adler rest area to the ski hut at Geiersberg is done in three waves, and with good snow conditions, even further to Rosenkopfstraße. Toboggan hill along the former ski lift "Am Brand", of which only the lift house remains. The slope has a considerable incline, does not level off, and ends at a fence. Tobogganers should be able to brake. For small children, a small slope at the end of the trail near Nahkauf in Neustadt is probably more suitable.

After fresh snowfall, much frequented and heavily trafficked. Relatively continuous driving. Picnic hut at halfway point, ski hut at the highest point

Follow the winter hiking trail No.3 from Güldener Brücke - Schmücke - Schneekopf - Güldene Brücke. Ideal winter walk with sledding descent (recommended with children). The route from Schneekopf to Brand parking lot is very suitable for sledding due to the slope - but caution: the path is primarily a cross-country ski trail, a difficult and narrow descent - please give way to skiers. For safety reasons, I would not let children sled alone

The former ski slope with (I suspect dismantled) lift at Crux is ideal for sledding. The slope is groomed with a snowcat and is therefore also suitable for wooden sleds. The lower part of the slope is very rough; when sledding with small children, I recommend keeping left under the old ski lift hut to avoid ground waves (as indicated in the track).

A 300m long toboggan run, groomed with a snowmobile and therefore also suitable for wooden sleds.

Der 200m lange Rodelhang befindet sich unmittelbar am Brand. Der Hang wird regelmäßig präpariert. Auch eine Flutlichtanlage ist installiert. Auf thueringer-wald.de wird über den Öffnungs- und Beleuchtungszustand informiert. Die Rodelbahn ist sehr steil, Bremsen ein Muß - eher etwas für größere Kinder.  Winterwanderwege und Skiwanderwege ergänzen das Wintersportangebot am Brand - ideal deshalb für Gruppen. Nach Neuschnee kann die Zufahrtstraße für Nichtallrad eine Herausforderung sein.

Ideales Rodelgebiet für die ganz Kleinen da mässig steil und auslaufend.  Der Hang wird üblicherweise gewalzt (Bild 2, Bild3) - was angesichts der geringen Neigung des Hanges auch nötig ist. Wehe dem, der nach Neuschnee versucht sich hier durchzupflügen (Bild 1). thueringer-wald.com gibt über den Präparierungszustand Auskunft - aber Vorsicht, die Information ist nicht zuverlässig (besagtes Foto, Ampel war auf grün = präpariert). Nach Neuschneefall deshalb wohl besser ein paar Tage warten. Verpflegung möglich im Gasthaus Auerhahn. Die nahen und sehr schönen Loipen geeignet für Familienaktionen mit verschiedenen Bedürfnissen. Der Zielbereich des Rodelhangs quert einen "Loipengarten"  Daraus lässt sich ein Spiel machen - für jeden abgeräumten skiwandernden Senior kriegen die Kleinen Rodler eine Portion Pommes, erwischen sie gar einen flinken Skater im Renndress gibt es noch eine Brause dazu ;-). Im Ernst: Dieser Loipengarten ist so sinnbefreit, dass er hoffentlich nicht benutzt wird und die Kinder freie Fahrt haben.
